Privacy policy

Effective 2026-10-01

This policy explains how SWAT, the publisher of the Byteling mobile game, handles players’ personal information. We collect as little as possible: Byteling has no sign-up, never asks for your name or email, and uses no behavioral analytics.

1. Who is responsible

SWAT is responsible for the personal information processed by Byteling. The person in charge of the protection of personal information at SWAT can be reached at support@groupeswat.ca.

2. What we collect

  • Game identity: when you are signed in to Game Center (iOS) or Google Play Games (Android), we receive your player ID and gamer name. We store a hashed fingerprint of the ID, a few characters of it for support, and your gamer name.
  • Progress: a save of your game (level, resources, upgrades, etc.) so it can be synced and restored.
  • Leaderboards: your scores, gamer name and season, plus any leaderboard rewards you claim.
  • In-app purchases: payments are processed by Apple or Google. We never see your card. Our provider RevenueCat receives an anonymous ID generated by the app and your purchase history so it can unlock what you bought.
  • Ads: rewarded ads are served by Google AdMob, which collects technical device data (IP address, model, OS, advertising ID on Android) to serve ads, measure them and prevent fraud.
  • Technical data: your IP address is used in memory, temporarily, to rate-limit abuse of our server. Our host may keep it briefly in its technical logs.

We do not collect: your name, your email (unless you write to us), contacts, location, photos or microphone. In-game reminders are local notifications created on your device, with no data sent.

3. Why

  • Run the game, save and restore your progress.
  • Show leaderboards and deliver season rewards.
  • Unlock and restore your purchases.
  • Show rewarded ads that you choose to watch.
  • Protect the service against abuse and cheating.

4. Advertising and consent

  • On iOS, Byteling does not track you across apps: we do not ask for tracking permission (ATT) and the ads we request are non-personalized.
  • On Android, Google may personalize ads based on your settings. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in Settings > Privacy > Ads.
  • Where the law requires it (for example in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom), the game asks for your consent at launch. You can change your choice at any time in the game: Shop > shield icon > Ad privacy choices.

5. Who we share with

  • Apple (Game Center, App Store) and Google (Google Play Games, Google Play, AdMob).
  • RevenueCat, to manage in-app purchases.
  • Render, our host, for the server and database.

We do not sell your personal information. We only share it with the providers the game needs. On Android, Google may use your advertising ID to personalize ads (see section 4).

6. Where the data lives

Our server and database are hosted in the United States (Render, Ohio region). The providers listed above may also process data outside Quebec and Canada. Data there is subject to local laws.

7. How long

  • Session tokens expire after 30 days.
  • Progress, scores and game identity are kept while you use Byteling, or until you ask us to delete them.
  • Deletion requests are handled within 30 days.

8. Your rights and deleting your data

You can ask to access, correct or delete your information, and withdraw your consent, by writing to support@groupeswat.ca. Include your gamer name and platform (iOS or Android) so we can find your data. Your gamer name comes from Game Center or Google Play Games: to change it, edit it there. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec.

9. What is public

Your gamer name and scores appear on leaderboards, visible to other players.

10. Children

Byteling is not directed at children under 14. If you believe a child under 14 has sent us information without a parent’s consent, write to us and we will delete it.

11. Security

Traffic to our server is encrypted (HTTPS), player IDs are stored as hashed fingerprints and database access is restricted.

12. Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. For a significant change, we will let you know in the game.
